The Rainbow Crusade...
I have never much been one for crusades of any nature..., does that make me a bad person? Not really, I just don't see the need to stick my head out into the firing line. I do however have great appreciation for those that do. See as far as I am concerned I have been very lucky, in that most of the work had been done by the time I showed up. Kind of like showing up to late for a party, but staying to help with the clean up.
This is all prompted by the movie "Milk", which I have only just watched for the first time. I know, I am a bit lax, as it has been out for a while. It is just not the type of movie that instantly jumps off the shelf at me. It wasn't until I started reading about it on the blogs of others that I learned what it was about. It was then that I felt I should watch it.
Like I said earlier, by the time I "Came Out", most of the work had been done. It was legal for me to be the way I was, and not long after, we had in this country, the "Civil Unions Act" (I think that it what it was called?), so again no need to worry there.
What I didn't quite appreciate, was the struggle that those that had come before me had gone through. Milk quite opened my eyes to the struggle of the community in the states, to the point where I researched the struggles in my own country. It seems though on a smaller scale, we had our own little battle going on that I had no idea about.
So I say now to all those crusaders out there, Thank You. Without you, I would not have the freedoms that I have today. And to those still fighting in the states, I wish you luck and say to you this,
"Courage and Honour!"

4 Tactical Suggestions...:
I'm not sure the crusade is over, is it?
No I don't think it is.
Milk is a great movie
Milk was a very inspiring movie. And believe you me, it is still a fight in some parts of this country.
It's easy to forget how much has already been won in other parts of the world, where the war for equality seems so far progressed.
It's much better here now than it was, though. It just depends on where you are.
